About KETOCONAZOLE+COAL TAR

COAL TAR+KETOCONAZOLE belongs to a class of combination drugs called 'antifungal with keratolytic agents' primarily used to treat dandruff and control seborrheic dermatitis (scaly patches and red skin on the scalp). Dandruff is a flaky, itchy scalp without signs of inflammation.

COAL TAR+KETOCONAZOLE is composed of two medicines: Ketoconazole (antifungal) and Coal Tar (keratolytic agent). Ketoconazole is an antifungal agent that works by preventing the growth of dandruff-causing fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering. Coal tar belongs to a class of drugs known as keratoplastic, which works by removing dead cells from the skin’s top layer and slowing down skin cells' growth. This effect decreases scaling and dryness, thus relieving itching and cracking related to dandruff.

You are advised to use COAL TAR+KETOCONAZOLE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical conditions. You may experience warmth or a burning sensation, skin irritation, itching, and redness at the application site. The burning sensation may usually last for five minutes after application. Most of these side effects of COAL TAR+KETOCONAZOLE do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
